Vienna
Vienna is the capital of Austria, located in central Europe.  About 1.8 million people live in the city.  Most of the people who live there speak
German. A 2005 study found that Vienna is among the best cities in the world to live in.   It is a beautiful city with lots of old buildings and wonderful sites to visit and see.  Every year, around 13 million tourists visit Vienna.
When people think of Vienna, they tend to think of classical music and opera.  After all, famous composers like Mozart, Beethoven, and Brahms lived and worked in the city.  There are many famous theaters and concert halls for tourists to visit.  One of the most well-known is the Vienna State Opera.  It was built in 1869.  The building is made of stone.  Up to 60 operas are performed each year in the Vienna State Opera.  There are always many performances so it is easy to take in an opera or ballet when visiting Vienna.
Schönbrunn Palace is another famous place to visit in Vienna.  This palace was built in the 1740s.  It has over 1,400 rooms.  There is a huge garden outside the palace.  Workers tend to the garden carefully so it is always very clean and beautiful.  There is even a maze in the garden.  Visitors can also buy a ticket to have dinner and see a concert in the palace during the evening.  This event is very popular and tickets quickly sell out.
